food for thought
in my criminology class today we had three speakers come in to talk to us. they were two guys who were in a special program for convicts and they were accompanied by their officer. this program is set up to help these men fit back into society after being into the streets and in and out of prison all their life. the men were required to do some jail time but rather than being kept in prison, they were given the opportunity to be placed in this program. the two guys talked about how the people they thought were their friends turned out being their enemies now that they are trying to do good and change their lives around. they also talked about how much hurt and pain they have caused their family, a type of pain that they have never caused their friends, but somehow their family were still standing by their side supporting them. their family now are their motivation and they are happy that they can make their family happy after all the pain they have caused. moral of the story is, when everyone loses all faith and hope in you, when your friends turn into enemies, when everyone seem to have given up on you, you will always have family, and those friends who stick around through the good and the bad also become family. in life from time to time we all need a shoulder to lean on, and those who want you to do better will never leave your side regardless of the circumstances. those who love you will offer you criticism when you’re doing bad and praise you and support you when you’re doing good.
